Photography by Rina Marie - What To Expect

If you have never had a custom photography session before, you will find that they are very different than what you might expect from your mainstream photo mill. Rina and her husband Jon work together to make the best of every portrait session, from the time you book your session to the time your portraits are are on display, you will receive personal attention to every detail and customized service from start to finish.

This section will tell you what to expect of the portrait photography process at Photography by Rina Marie.

BEFORE YOUR SESSION:

1. BOOK YOUR SESSION

To book your session simply call 270-779-0445 or email us by clicking HERE. We will then talk to you about your session and spend time getting to know you better so that we are able to capture the very best images for you and your family. We will work together to schedule a time and location for your shoot and send you a welcome packet that includes a detailed price and product list, information that will help with your session, and all paperwork we will need you to sign so that we can have it out of the way before your session. We will also collect your deposit ($25) at this time. This non-refundable deposit will go toward your session fee and is required to schedule your session, and make your date unavailable to other clients. If, for any reason, you need to reschedule please contact us as soon as possible and we will work together to arrange another date.

THE DAY OF YOUR SESSION

1. CHOOSE YOUR CLOTHES

If clothing changes are desired, please bring an assortment of garments including shoes, hats, jackets, jewelry, and anything else you might want to use. We allow unlimited clothing changes and will discuss with you during the shoot which items will help make the most of your session. Please note that due to personal religious convictions we ask that clients refrain from wearing excessively tight clothing or clothing that reveals any part of the breasts, stomach or upper thighs.

2. CONSIDER YOUR “PROPS”

In order to plan and personalize your portrait session we encourage you to bring any props you wish: cars, instruments, pets, etc. We are happy to consult with you prior to your session regarding any props you wish to bring.

3. YOUR SESSION

All sessions are laid back and relaxed, lasting between 1-3 hours, with newborn and family sessions taking longer, if necessary. Each shot is purposefully set up to maximize lighting, backgrounds and colors. When we find the spot that will give us the perfect combination of these aspects, we begin shooting. This process takes time and we ask that clients be willing to hang out with us while we work to achieve the best conditions. During child sessions, Rina will spend a minimum of 10-15 minutes before taking any pictures, in order to help your child relax and become comfortable with the presence of the camera. If parents feel it would be helpful, we often bring our own children with us to child and family sessions, to further assist your child’s comfort. We will give you and/or your child guidance on poses and clothing choices to get the most out of your session and to achieve the best results.

AFTER YOUR SESSION

1. IMAGES ARE HAND SELECTED

After your session, we go through each picture individually and hand select the images that have the most potential before we begin work in the digital darkroom. Although we may shoot many images during your session, we choose only the best of the best from your entire session to make the final cut. Typically, we choose 15-20 proofs to process.

2. YOUR PORTRAITS ARE PROCESSED

Post processing in the digital darkroom is the most extensive part of your session and can take anywhere from 2-4 weeks to complete. Post processing can include anything from changing color hues, removing blemishes, whitening teeth, and adding special color effects or converting to black and white, sepia, etc. To learn more about our processing, and to see examples of this procedure, click HERE.

3. VIEW YOUR PROOFS & ORDER YOUR PRINTS AND PRODUCTS

From beginning to end, we strive to ensure that you get the very best from your session and we offer in-person proofing to help you through the ordering process. When your proofs are ready, you will be contacted via phone or email and we will schedule an ordering session that will take place at your home or an agreed upon location. At this time we will go over each image together and present several display options for your portraits, along with samples of specialty items available to enrich your images such as canvassing, brag books, custom framing, etc. A minimum of $200 is required for print purchases, and collection and purchase payment plans are available.
